Bishop
Frade’s Draft Vision for
the Diocese of Southeast Florida
The
vision for Southeast Florida is for us to be truly a diocese Committed
to Mission, whose bishop is the Chief Missionary among
all missionaries.
The
diocese is localized in the various missionary outposts
(congregations, institutions and diocesan office), living within
the Catholic Structure of Classic Anglicanism with the
purpose of living out the Great Commission, focusing on
the unchurched around us, with a goal—BHAG*--of
growing to 100,000/60,000 baptized members by 2010/2006,
with over 100 congregations representing transformed
lives of “all sorts and conditions of people”.
*Big
Holy Audacious Goal

On
May 6, 2000, when the Rt. Rev. Leo Frade was elected the third
bishop of Southeast Florida, he promised that he intended to be
a "missionary bishop".
At
the Diocesan Convention
that year, he began to describe how we could become a "missionary
diocese".
In
November 2000 (and again in 2001) Diocesan Leaders attended the
"Clear Vision"
Conference sponsored by the Diocese of Texas in order to learn
how that diocese is living into its vision.
On
April 28, 2001, Bishop Frade invited our diocese to take the "First
Step" toward living into our own vision of a mission-focused
church.
The
2001 Diocesan Convention
continued to focus on our vision, and our "Next Step" process
is providing the people of the diocese with
tools for reaching out to all the world with the transforming
love of Jesus Christ.
