Bishop
Said was born in Marion, Indiana, and was educated at Kokomo High
School, Wabash College, and Berkeley Divinity School. He was ordained
Deacon in Indianapolis, Indiana, at Christ Church Cathedral and
ordained Priest in Grace Church, Muncie, Indiana.
He married Ann McCormack in 1955 and they now live in North Miami
Beach. They have three children and four grandchildren. He has
served in parishes in Muncie, Plainfield, and Indianapolis in
Indiana. Bishop Said and his family moved to Brazil where he served
as Missionary in Petropolis and Recife. He has worked in the business
community in Human Resources at three companies: Ayr-Way Stores,
Jefferson Stores, and General Plastics Corporation.
Bishop
Said was admitted into this Diocese in 1979 as a non- parochial
priest (n ot
attached to any parish). In 1984, he was called to St. Kevin's
in Opa Locka, Florida. During his almost eleven years there, he
was Dean of the North Dade Deanery, Chairman of the Budget Committee,
member of the Commission on Ministry, and part of the founding
group of the Clergy Assistance program. In 1994, he was elected
the first Suffragan Bishop of Southeast Florida and was consecrated
on February 25, 1995, in Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Miami, Florida.
