Preferred Way to Handle Storm Damage

  1. Submit the claim and get a claim number by calling 1-800-223-5705.

  2. Take photos – not a necessity but helpful.

  3. Get a written estimate from a reliable contractor. Have contractor provide proof of General Liability and Workers Comp. Ins. More than one estimate is preferable but may not be reasonable under these circumstances.

  4. Secure the damage.

  5. Start repairs.

  6. An adjustor will be sent out but you do not have to wait for the adjustor to begin repairs. That is why you have written estimates and photos of damage.

  7. Do not have volunteers using chain saws and removing debris from roofs etc. There has been one death and several major injuries from unskilled people performing tasks for which they are not trained or skilled.

  8. File your receipts with the Insurance Company. In many cases what is not paid for in one portion of the policy may be paid for in another.
