May 2012

The 77th General Convention of The Episcopal Church will be held July 5-12 in Indianapolis, IN. This gathering will adopt a budget and resolutions that will set policies and priorities for our whole church for the next three years; we don’t tell our deputies how to vote on these important issues, but your input will help them make informed decisions.

A list of our diocesan deputies with contact emails is here.)

There is plenty of material available to help you become informed about the matters that General Convention will be asked to address:

GC preview webcast - There will be a live webcast on the topic of General Convention 2012 on May 9 at 1 p.m. (Eastern) at www.episcopalchurch.org. Participants will be: Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori; House of Deputies President Bonnie Anderson; Executive Officer and Secretary of the General Convention, the Rev. Gregory Straub; and Bishop Catherine Waynick of the Diocese of Indianapolis, the host diocese.

The "Blue Book&qupt; — "The Blue Book," more than 750 pages of reports of the committees, commissions, agencies and boards to the General Convention, along with resolutions submitted by these groups, is available for download as a PDF at http://generalconvention.org/gc/prepare. The convention schedule and the draft budget for 2013-2015 can also be downloaded from that site.
