Memo
from Church Insurance about deductibles:
October 1, 2004
Several parishes in the diocese suffered damage from both Hurricane Frances
and Hurricane Jeanne.
While the standard industry approach in these situations is to apply
a separate deductible every time there is a new claim event, Church Insurance
will be
operating as follows:
- A hurricane deductible applies
to a specific building that
has been damaged by a hurricane.
- If the same building is
damaged by 2 or more hurricanes we will apply only one deductible.
- However, if a second
building that was not previously damaged suffers a loss from
a second hurricane, then one deductible
will apply to
that building as well.
I hope that this is
clear. Our adjustors are using this approach and will be communicating
it to affected clients.
