The
Rev. Mary Gray-Reeves appointed
Archdeacon for Deployment
Bishop Leo
Frade has announced the appointment of the Rev. Mary Gray-Reeves, rector
of St. Margaret’s, Miami Lakes, as Archdeacon for Deployment. She will
begin her new ministry in January 2005.
In his letter
to diocesan clergy announcing the appointment, Bishop Frade said, “…she
brings to this ministry not only her strong commitment to our diocesan
mission of sharing the Good News with all, but also her energy, her
knowledge of the diocese and her personal gifts of wisdom, discernment,
steadiness and humor”.
A native
of Miami, the Rev. Gray-Reeves began her ministry in the Diocese of
Los Angeles and returned to our diocese in December 1998 to accept
the call to St. Margaret’s.
In the past
three years she has worked closely with our bishops and archdeacons,
and with our diocesan consultant, the late Susy Miller, in the process
of vision-mission development and training, serving first as co-chair
of the “Next Step” process and then as a member of the steering committee
for the Nehemiah Project.
She currently
serves as president of the Standing Committee.
Gray-Reeves
and her husband, Michael Reeves, have two 11-year-old children, Katie
and Dorian.
