Parochial Reports and Key Personnel Lists--Parochial Report
forms have been mailed to all parishes. The National Church
requests that reports be filed online, but please remember
that the canons of our diocese still require that a hard copy
of the report be sent to the Diocesan Office by Jan. 31. The
Key Personnel Form can be downloaded from the diocesan website;
go to http://www.diosef.org/forms/key.pdf.
This form is due in the Diocesan Office by Feb. 15.
Anti-Racism Dialogue -- The diocesan
Commission on Racism, Justice and Reconciliation will sponsor
a half-day (9 a.m.-noon) Dialogue on Anti-Racism on the Martin
Luther King, Jr., holiday, Monday, Jan. 20. Bishop Frade is
urging each congregation to send at least five persons to
participate in the dialogue, which is designed to confront
the sin of racism and to increase awareness of and sensitivity
to oppression, exclusion and prejudice within the Body of
Christ, as well as in our society.
Presiding
Bishop’s Visit—There may still be time to make reservations
in Key West for the weekend of Jan. 25, when Presiding
Bishop Frank Griswold will be at St. Paul’s, Key West,
celebrating that congregation’s 170th observance
of its patronal festival and 170 years of Episcopal presence
in South Florida. St Paul’s has arranged for group rates at
several hotels; mention St. Paul’s when you call: Hotel La
Concha--$179 per night (if reservations are made by Jan. 4
and rooms are available; call 305-296-2991); Days Inn--$85/night
plus tax; call 800-224-5051 by Jan. 2. For additional lodging
information, go to www.keywest.com.
Todos
los Santos, Miami, is chartering a bus for the
day trip to Key West on Jan. 25; the cost is $25. Call Saulo
Salvador, 305-264-8932, for more information.
Beyond

of the Groom will be with us again for Beyond Telepathy II,
with the theme “Body Building Basics”—techniques for building
up the Body of Christ. Friday, Mar. 28, there will be a youth
lock-in, beginning at 7 p.m., and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to
4 p.m., there will be presentations by FOG for everyone—laity
and clergy, youth and adults. All events will be at St. Mark
the Evangelist, 1750 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale.
The cost will be $5 per person, including program and lunch.
Childcare will be available.
Southeast
Florida Episcopal Foundation—SEFEF now shares office space
with the new diocesan satellite office at 8895 N. Military
Trail, Suite 205-C, Palm Beach Gardens 33410; phone 561-799-6424;
fax 561-799-0474. Foundation President Charles B. Ring
III can also be reached by email at Charlie@episfoundation.org.
Online
registration—We’re continuing to refine the process of
online registration for diocesan events; you will notice that
it is now possible to register online for an event even if
you prefer to mail a check rather than send payment electronically.
We are fortunate to have a system that is being created especially
for us, and can be “tweaked” to meet our specific needs—but
it is a new process, and we ask your patience as we all learn
how to use this new tool. Please continue to let us know what’s
working and what’s not, so we can make the process work more
easily and efficiently. Events for which registration is currently
available are listed at www.diosef.org/register.html.
Journal—Our
target date for taking the 2002 Journal to the printer is
Jan. 15. Copies will be printed for each parish, and of course
the Journal will be posted on the website, so that additional
copies may be downloaded and printed as needed.
Summer Discernment Institute at Sewanee--The University
of the South at Sewanee is offering a funded summer internship
program of vocational exploration for college students who
feel they may be called to ministry in the church or in service
organizations. Thirty-two internships are available. Complete
information on the program, as well as application forms,
are available at http://www.sewanee.edu/lillyproj/lsdi.html.
Applications are due by Feb. 17, so please share this information
as soon as possible with students you think may be interested.

through lunch on Feb. 13. The retreat leader will be the Rev.
Dr. Minka Sprague, deacon, professor and author. Registration

in Miami. The team is actively seeking candidates, not only
from Spanish-speaking congregations, but also among members
of predominantly English-speaking congregations who might
prefer a weekend in Spanish. Call Saulo Salvador, 305-264-8932,
for more information.
Episcopal
Relief & Development—Episcopal Relief and Development
(formerly the Presiding Bishop’s Fund for World Relief) has
asked that we develop a network of people who can bring news
of its work regularly to all congregations. Each rector or
priest/deacon-in-charge of a parish is asked to appoint a
representative who can assist in talking to the congregation
monthly and encouraging donations to ER & D. This network
of representatives would also be in place to help coordinate
our response in times of emergencies. Please send
names, phone numbers and email addresses to diocesan ER &
D representative Deacon Vivian Hopkins at Christ Episcopal
Church, 305-442-8542 or email chrepch@aol.com.
Donations to Episcopal Relief & Development may be sent
to Box 12043, Newark, NJ 07101.

to participate in a youth gathering, "Count Me Faithful",
