Episcopal 73rd General Convention in Denver
July 6, 2000

"Communion is God's deepest desire for us. Communion is to go home."

-- Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold

This was our Jubilee Morning, a time of reflection and release in the midst of the work of the convention.

The morning Eucharist began as usual with the Ministry of the Word, but after Bp. Griswold's meditation, there was an hour and a half of free time, in which we were urged to give ourselves space and silence to "Let the Spirit Speak."

People spoke quietly with friends, walked outdoors, stood at the windows of the Convention Center that look west toward the mountains, walked the labyrinth--or just sat in silence.

After the "Jubilee" time, the Eucharist continued, and deputies left for their various meetings of the day.

View of the Mountains
One of the suggestions Bp. Griswold made for our Jubilee morning was taking time to appreciate the beautiful view of the mountains that Denver offers. This is what we can see from many of the rooms in the hotel where the Southeast Florida delegation is staying. Photo by Susan Stokes
