Youth Participation

Our young people were visible everywhere—as pages on the convention floor, carrying their parishes’ banners at the Convention Eucharist, conducting a workshop on Happening—and even presenting Bishop Frade with a surprise gift.

Tracey Casas (right, with Fr.Tom Pittenger) was one of the Youth Commission officers who joined diocesan officers on the dais.

Liesel Winchester and Tracey Casas give Bishop Frade a present
from the youth of the diocese.

(Click here to find out what was in the package.)

Abi Graham, Church of the Advent, Palm City, makes sure a guest has all
four of the Diocesan Plan buttons: "Teach us!", "Empower us!",
"Open our mouths!", "Open our eyes & hearts!"

Well-decorated with buttons, Abi (center) and her friends Casey Paty (left)
and Drew Winchester (right), both from Holy Trinity, West Palm
Beach, lead the delegates in a song.

Emergency repairs to one of the "liturgical wind socks" for the procession
were made by these resourceful guys with the all-purpose tool—duct tape.

A last-minute rehearsal for the Happening workshop.

Oops! Elena Payne-Wiens, wife of diocesan Youth Minister "Father Reggie",
experiences the hazards of too many young people trying to occupy
the same lunch table at the same time. (Clean slacks were quickly
provided by one of the girls on the Youth Commission.)

John Barrow, Church of the Resurrection, Biscayne Park, shares a
snack with Drew Winchester and Tracey Casas before the last youth event
of the Convention/Conference, the Happening workshop.

Future Youth Commission member? Joshua Tiller, with his mother Sue,
was back for his second Diocesan Convention. Joshua’s dad is Fr. Monte
Tiller, rector of Holy Redeemer, Lake Worth.
